Been butting head against the Director (will be referred as Who) since last year primarily due to Who's data accuracy.
During a meeting I politely asked if the data includes B, which I was scorned upon saying B was never included and further elaborated Target = A only. But as I recalled and upon checking, the original 2021 Target that was sent on Dec-2020 is Target = A + B.
Why am I pissed? Because that means my achievement is now at 60% vs 97%.
Long story short, had 1-on-1 the next day where I've subtly raised a concern on report accuracy (lesson learnt, don't pinpoint the issue within 10 second, instead leave breadcrumbs, spend 45 minute ensuring Who finds the root cause, "not me").
Right after Who identified the issue, I was scorned on again, saying my job is not to find faults in data, but to push the team to get more sales. Who, is absolutely right here.
But when our sales team brief the front-liners they've fallen behind target (only sold 120) in Aug, they rebut that they've sold 202 units. Who, confirms Jul onward data 99% accurate...
Who started hurting me saying I didn't do my job well, which I retaliated with all the actions that has been done, and how Who just recently (Aug) started to look into the stretched target given by APAC CEO, on the other hand I've been gearing the team since Apr. Well of course Who was pissed, hence more bad remarks about me came flying;
1. I've check the data our performance is actually reasonable at 60%, why yours shows below 40%
- Before sending the last 2 reports to client, I've sent an email to you stating I'm not comfortable sending it due to huge chunks of it is Unknown Z. I could do the "Breakdown" and it'll show 60%, but I can't make that call, hence the email seeking advice with a proposed solution.
- The reply that I got; It's ok, just send the 40%, insert caveat; this data is blablabla.
2. You didn't include Unknown Z into Channel X & Y into the internal report.
- I did (you can check in your emails) while my peer didn't, I even hosted a session to guide him.
There were many back and forth, safe to say it ended with him saying to my face I'm finding fault in him, and I explained again: You're saying I didn't do 123, but in fact I did 123&4.
In a nutshell removed the sugars, I received a call later that day, "asking" if I want to be demoted, I felt DISSAPOINTED, and said YES. Was given the weekend to think, but with no guidance/mentoring/motivation from him, thrown into rank that I've no experience, hurting me, turning a blind eye and a deaf ear on me. YES, that is my answer to him after the weekend. In the 4 years under him, I've only received education/mentoring from him twice!!
